‘Legion’ Is Getting An Expanded Season 2 And Casts ‘Wonder Woman’ Actor As Shadow King

FX

FX’s trippy and ambitious-as-hell X-Men series Legion is a favorite around here, partly because of a great cast and also its willingness to be as abstract and weird as the comics. And now we know a little more about what madness season 2 has in store, thanks to Legion‘s panel at San Diego Comic-Con on Thursday.

When show creator Noah Hawley wasn’t casually announcing an upcoming feature film starring Doctor Doom (!), he was also revealing a new castmember for season 2: an actor who’ll play a version of Shadow King who isn’t a beagle, a bobbleheaded boy, a tall skinny kid in makeup, or the so-damn-good Aubrey Plaza. We’ll soon be seeing Amahl Farouk / Shadow King also being portrayed by Wonder Woman‘s Saïd Taghmaoui. If you don’t recognize the name, you’d definitely recognize his face if you’ve seen Wonder Woman:

Taghmaoui was able to be memorable and charismatic with only a small number of lines in Wonder Woman, so it’ll be great to see what he can do with a villain role. And if you’re worried about losing Aubrey Plaza, don’t. She’ll still be in the next season as well; I’ve seen a page of the script with her and Jermaine Clement in an unnerving scene.

At the panel — which included Hawley, Dan Stevens, Aubrey Plaza, Rachel Keller, Jean Smart, Bill Irwin, Jeremie Harris, Amber Midthunder, and executive producers John Cameron, Lauren Shuler Donner, and Jeph Loeb — we also learned season 2 will have two more episodes than season one. Next season’s ten episodes are expected to film and air in 2018.

They also touched on the possibility of bringing David’s (Dan Stevens) father in the comics (Professor X) into the mix, which we’ll be covering in a separate post.
