When sex clip was played on BBC computer as anchor read news live

BBC has hit media headlines once again for wrong reasons after a short clip of one of its employees was found to be watching ‘inappropriate’ video in the background as the newsreader presented live bulletin.

The incident took place on Tuesday night when a BBC viewer recorded a short clip of an employee watching a porn clip, believed to be a part of a movie, even as the female newsreader presented her sports news bulletin live.

Lyndsey Robinson wrote on her Facebook page with the video clip, “Did anyone else notice news last night on BBC??? Thought I was seeing things…but just re-watched on iplayer…nope I definitely saw what I thought I had.”

The embarrassing development was also caught by several other social media users, who were quick to Twitter to highlight the gaffe.

Comments on Twitter ranged from “Did I just see boobs on the News at Ten?” to asking the BBC: “Why is there a porn video playing behind one of your news anchors during a report?”

The fact that the incident took place on the channel’s flagship News at 10 made the embarrassment that worse. The News at 10 is watched by 3.8 million people every night.

As expected, the news has become a dominant topic of media coverage in UK with the BBC launching an investigation into the whole episode.

The Sun newspaper quoted a TV source as saying, “This has gone down like a lead balloon at the BBC. It is totally unprofessional. It beggars belief a sex scene should be played live on air. The employee is on borrowed time when bosses catch up with him. You can’t get away with this sort of stuff anymore”

This comes just days after it emerged that several high-profile BBC staff had posted lewd, racist and xenophobic remarks on WhatsApp about their own colleagues. The incident had prompted the corporation to suspend one of its star DJs.
